FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE On my cohort?
Typically we operate a maximum class size of 15 people to ensure that the tutor can dedicate time to ensuring you have all the support you need to succeed.
WHO WILL I BE on my cohort?
We accept students from any and every background, and there isn’t a ‘type’ of student. What they all share in common is a focus on being the best that they can be.
I’VE NEVER CODED BEFORE, AM I GOING TO BE ABLE TO DO THIS?
For Full-Stack and Front-End, absolutely, yes! These bootcamps are designed to take you from little or no skills to being able to develop and deploy enterprise-grade software to a professional standard. Many of previous students had never coded before joining us to make the jump, so you’re not going to be left behind.
This is a complex subject and there will be times when it’s confusing, but we’re here to support you to succeed.
You must have a good grasp of the English language to participate successfully in this bootcamp
In the spirit of transparency we note that this bootcamp will be additionally difficult if:
- You have dyslexia
- You are colour blind
WHAT GUARANTEES ARE THERE THAT I’LL GET A JOB AFTERWARDS?
As the saying goes, there are only two certainties in life: death and taxes. We don’t guarantee anyone a job (and nor can any other bootcamp), but our Bootcamps get you as close as you can get by ensuring you have all the skills, knowledge, insight and career-change support to make the jump to becoming a professional developer with access to the best opportunities.
DO I GET A QUALIFICATION?
When you finish the course you’ll receive a certification of completion from the jump. If you have met or exceeded all the performance conditions outlined on the performance tracker, we will additionally provide you with a letter of recommendation to be provided to potential employers.
You don’t receive a recognised qualification because there aren’t any so the market doesn’t use them - instead most organisations do some form of testing themselves during the interview process to evaluate your skills.
CAN I GET FINANCIAL SUPPORT?
As The Jump is dedicated to making our programmes as accessible as possible, we offer a competitive financing option through two different 3rd party financing organisations:
- Lendwise is a specialist UK education finance platform which is authorised and regulated by the FCA. Click here for more information on Lendwise Loans and how to apply for a loan directly with Lendwise once you are accepted onto one of our courses or bootcamps.
- Knoma are an education finance platform which can offer loans over a 1 year period.
CAN WORK PAY FOR ME?
Yes, absolutely. The first step is to find out what funding options there are from your employer - will they pay for you to train, and if so, what are the requirements? Let them know that we provide a certification of completion and that you will have a portfolio of work to demonstrate your abilities. Also let them know that for our part-time bootcamp, the training will be in the evenings, so it won’t disrupt their operations.
WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?
We accept Direct Debit, bank transfers and Card Payments.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I MISS A PAYMENT?
We do our best to be flexible and help you in extenuating circumstances, but if a payment is missed we do require that it is paid prior to the next lesson.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I FALL BEHIND IN MY STUDIES?
We will support you all the way, but as with all things in life, if you want to be successful, you will need to put in the work. The course notes will be available to you, as will recordings of the training sessions. Your instructor and teaching assistant will be reachable on slack for additional support outside of the classroom if you need it. It’s in our interest to get you where you want to be, so you have our commitment that we won’t leave you behind.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I HAVE TO MISS SOME LECTURES?
The notes from all lectures will be shared with you, as will the recordings of the sessions. If you still need help with understanding the content then you can just reach out to your instructor or teaching assistant for support.
It is not advisable to take holiday during the full-time programme.
